In Mexico, economic activities are governed by two major laws: the General Corporation and Partnership Law and the Civil Code.  Both legal bodies provide for rules of operation for Partnerships (corporate entities) or Individuals.  Foreign residents can also participate although subject to certain restrictions.

 

The most frequent form of doing business in Mexico is through Partnerships and the most common is a Stock Corporation (“Sociedad Anónima”), especially since it is very simple to increase or reduce its capital stock subject only to restrictions established by its own by-laws.
